Monteverde is a residential neighbourhood in the west of Rome, above Trastevere and next to the Gianicolo hill. It is quiet in the evening, full of services by day, and linked to the centre by tram 8 and by trains from Trastevere station.

Staying in Monteverde, you live the Rome of the people who live here: the café downstairs, local shops, the parks where Romans go running. Evenings are quiet, away from the crowds at the monuments, yet the centre is a tram ride away.
The area is well served: shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, local restaurants and San Camillo hospital.
Getting around
- Tram 8: links Monteverde to Trastevere and Piazza Venezia, in the heart of Rome, in about 20 minutes.
- Trastevere station: a 10-minute walk from Il Pianoforte, or 5 minutes on tram 8. Trains go to Termini, Tiburtina and Fiumicino airport, every 20 minutes including weekends.
- Commuter train to St Peter's: about a 10-minute ride.
- Buses: many lines connect the neighbourhood to the rest of the city.
What to see on foot
- Villa Pamphili: the neighbourhood's big park, for running, walking or a few hours in the green.
- Villa Sciarra: smaller, next to the Gianicolo, with a notable history.
- Gianicolo: Rome's terrace. The cannon fires at noon and the view takes in the whole historic centre.
- Trastevere: walk down from the Gianicolo into its lanes.

The neighbourhood, according to guests
Clean, bright and airy apartment, equipped with almost everything you could need. In an area lived in mostly by local Italians, friendly and welcoming, with whom we had our morning coffee. Away from the tourist crowds, but close to the station and the tram and bus stops.
The centre is easy to reach by tram. The beautiful Villa Pamphili park is nearby.
